Risk Management for Dental Practices
Lisa Kane, DMD
Lisa Kane received her DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and her B.S. from Brandeis University. She has practiced general dentistry in the Greater Boston Area for over 20 years. She is currently the owner of Dental Office Compliance of New England LLC, which assists dental practices in complying with the myriad of regulations required by their state board, OSHA, HIPAA, and the CDC. She teaches dental teams, creates personalized plans and protocols for dental practices, helps them navigate the world of dental compliance, and consults with teams on Standard of Care.
Russell Kane, JD
Russell Kane comes to Dental Office Compliance after a 25 year legal and compliance career, most recently at a global asset management firm where he served as a mutual fund chief compliance officer for 10 years and the firm’s General Counsel for five years. He has extensive experience with helping clients understand applicable laws and regulations and drafting required policies and procedures.
Course Description:
This course will help participants better understand key risks in their practices and how to mitigate them. It will review the most common malpractice claims and State board complaints, explain the professional standard of care, discuss ways to communicate more effectively with patients, and describe requirements and best practices for informed consents and patient charts.
At The Conclusion Of This Course Participants Will Be Able To:
- Identify key clinical and business risks in their practices;
- Apply risk reduction techniques;
- Teach their staffs how to be more risk-aware;
- Improve the clarity and effectiveness of communications with patients; and
- Strengthen clinical documentation to enhance patient treatment and reduce their own liability.
