8:30 – 8:45 am WELCOME & INTRODUCTIONS
8:45 –12:00 pm HOW TO MOBILIZE AND INTEGRATE INTO EMERGING PUBLIC HEALTH ENDEAVORS
8:45 – 9:15 am Richard Niederman, DMD, is professor and chair, Department of Epidemiology & Health Promotion at New York University College of Dentistry, and a participant in the NYU World Health Organization Collaborating Center. He is the founding USA editor of the journal Evidence-Based Dentistry; co-author of the book Evidence-based Dentistry, and author of more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles. His work, over the last 15 years, focuses on creation, dissemination and implementation of caries prevention programs.

9:20 – 9:50 am Sarah Finne, DMD, is the Dental Director for the NH DHHS, Division of Medicaid Services. She brings experience from both the public & private practice of dentistry including work in her own family dental practice prior to transitioning to public health dentistry at the Children’s Dental Network, a school-based program based in Derry, NH. Dr. Finne remains active professionally as a member of the board and former president of the Medicare-Medicaid-CHIP State Dental Association, CMS OTAG Region I Representative, and as a member of the Association of State & Territorial Dental Directors, the ADA, and state and local dental organizations. Dr. Finne is a Fellow in the International College of Dentists. She supports community oral health access through board membership with the NH Dental Society Foundation Board and the Greater Derry Oral Health Collaborative Corporation Board of Directors.

10:10 – 10:40 am Kelly Perry, DMD, is the Dental Director for Mid-State Health Center and is an adjunct faculty member at the University of New England, College of Dental Medicine and Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Perry is an active member of the ADA, the NH Dental Society and the Lakes Region Dental Society. She has served as Trustee for the Lakes Region and serves as the NHDS public health dental representative on the NH DHHS Medicaid Adult Dental Benefit workgroup. She is a member of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry and the National Network of Oral Health Access. She currently holds the Community Dental Chair for the NH Oral Health Coalition’s Steering Committee and serves as committee Chair.

10:45 – 11:15 am Jonnie Norris, DDS, is a Board-Certified pediatric dentist practicing in southwest New Hampshire. His practice, Montshire Pediatric Dentistry, has three locations: Keene, Claremont, and Henniker. Since 2017 he has been an advocate of practicing minimally invasive dentistry with a focus on non-surgical intervention and reducing pediatric sedations. He is passionate about educating the dental profession on the impact this will have for patients, providers, and practices.

11:20 – 11:50 am Laurie Davie, MA, is the Director of the Long Term Care and Aging focus area at the Institute for Health Policy and Practice (IHPP). She is also the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Center on Aging and Community Living, a collaboration between IHPP and the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire. She provides leadership, project management, facilitation, and evaluation across multiple projects focused on person-centered options for older adults to support them to live and age in communities of their choice. Laura is an active member of the Tri-State Learning Collaborative on Aging’s Advisory Board and is a collaborative partner in the NH Senior Leadership Series.

1:00 – 2:45 pm TABLE DISCUSSIONS: DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF CURRENT & EMERGING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PUBLIC HEALTH HYGIENISTS
Objectives: After taking this course, hygienists will have a better understanding of:

- the role of CPHDH and mobile van capabilities
- FQHCs in NH and how a CPHDH may be utilized
- how to discuss the role of a CPHDH in a school-based program
- the role of CPHDH in long-term care and homebound settings
- what is required for CPHDH certification
- the role of CPHDH in a private practice setting
- establishing networking relationships in order to pursue PH goals
